Join American Society of the University of Haifa and Professor Gabriel Weimann who will be discussing the implications of the Israeli election and exploring the role mass media and media technologies played in the outcome.

Mass media and media technology’s ever-growing influence on political discourse has been a key topic of interest recently in the US, Israel, and across the world. Particularly around elections, political parties and activists are using mass media in ways never seen before. Dr. Weinmann can delve into this phenomenon and how it impacted the Israeli elections and Likud’s subsequent victory.

Dr. Gabriel Weimann is a Full Professor of Communication in the Department of Communication at University of Haifa in Israel and a Visiting Professor at the University of Maryland. His research interests include the study of modern terrorism and the mass media among many other topics. He has published more than 180 reports and 9 books, including Terrorism in Cyberspace: The Next Generation. He was a Public Policy Fellow at the Wilson Center, and has been a Visiting Professor at various universities including, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University and notable others.
